Child Sponsorship
Building Bonds: Sponsor Information
As an HCM sponsor, you offer a needy Haitian child a model of Christ’s love in action. Your sponsored child will know your name and that you have followed Christ’s example by offering your love, prayers and compassion.
Your Support Is Vital to a Child
Your monthly support of $35 will be used to minister to your child in a variety of ways.
Education: Your support assures that your child will be able to attend an HCM school, receive school supplies and uniforms through the sixth grade. Secondary schooling requires higher expenses and the sponsor support can only provide the cost of the tuition.
Medical Care: HCM provides your child with free medical care and inoculations.
Nutrition: Your child will receive a nutritious, high-protein meal during the day.
Local Development: Projects may include construction of schools, drilling of water wells and other developments to improve your child’s life.
Praying for Your Child
HCM also encourages each sponsor to pray for your child, the child’s family and our ministry. Prayer points could include the child’s health, his/her training and spiritual growth. You will also receive HCM newsletters with prayer needs.
Letters and Gifts for Your Sponsored Child
Every child loves receiving letters, and your sponsored child is no exception. HCM encourages you to write your child as often as you desire, although it is not required of any sponsor. It will make your relationship with your child more meaningful — for you and your child.
Remember to consider your child’s age and keep your letters simple. Write about yourself, your family, your pets, hobbies, sports, your city or state, church activities and holiday traditions. Feel free to include photographs and postcards you think your child might enjoy. Do not focus on your material possessions your child is very poor, and do not suggest that your child visit you in your own country.
Your letter will be translated for your sponsored child and delivered in about six weeks. You may receive translated letters from your child usually once or twice a year.
What about gifts?
If desired, you can send a monetary gift to your child for birthdays, Christmas
and other special occasions. HCM suggests a small cash gift of $15 or less.
Make your check payable to HCM and specify the purpose of this money in a
note.
Because of problems encountered with the Customs agency in Haiti, we do not recommend shipping packages or gifts to your sponsored child.
As a result of the recent earthquake in Haiti, we have 50 more sponsorship files of children whose families have lost their homes, and who are now living outside in the grounds of the mission. Sponsorship will make a huge impact on the lives of these children and their families. Please contct us for more details on these and other children requiring sponsorship.
Here are just a few of the many Haitian children in need of sponsorship.
